Presentation of St. Oliver Portrait to St. Peter’s Parish, Drogheda on 17th May 2025

To mark the gifting by the late Kaline Murray(nee Plunkett) of a St. Oliver portrait to St. Peter’s parish, a ceremony was held on 17th May 2025, with daughter Martina Murray representing the family on the occasion.

It was Kaline’s father, the late Oliver Plunkett, another great devotee of St. Oliver who had commissioned the portrait from Navan artist, Patsy Reel to mark year of St. Oliver’s canonisation in 1975. Martina said that she was delighted to represent family on the occasion, recalling the Plunkett and Murray families were always proud of their Plunkett connections. Canon Eugene Sweeney PP in the accepting the portrait, expressed his deep appreciation to Martina and the Murray family for the fine portrait gifted to the parish and to the National Shrine of St. Oliver.

The one meter tall portrait is by Patsy Reel a well-known and noted artist who has recently exhibited a retrospective collection of his works at Dublin Castle.
